Start of with small logs or branches to get a feel for it.
Try to split in the middle to keep the pressure even, otherwise you will find the split will run out to one side , these do make good wedges though .
It is best just to play around with this as knots and twisted grains will send the split off, dont worry it is all just fire wood after all,
What you need for larger projects
- 1 large metal wedge (or an old axe head) to get it started
- Selection of different size wooden wedges
- Big wooden mallet
